Day 12 of My Month of Gratitude

This is one that is distracting me from what I’m supposed to be doing at the moment, but I am very grateful for it!

Technology is all around us, and I will be the first one to give out about it and about how much we all rely on it and that it’s so bad for us in so many ways. I am addicted to it, and as with many other people, it is the last thing I look at going to bed and the first when I get up in the morning – and I want to change this, and I am trying slowly!

But I am so grateful to have technology in our lives. The internet is a wonderful resource. I have made friends in online forums and groups, who are wonderful friends and I have met them in real life. Online groups are such a support as a mother, as is the internet and even social media if you can remember to only follow people and pages that make you feel good about yourself and not the opposite. I love the fact that at the touch of a button I can double-check a spelling or find the answer to one of the childrens questions. There is so much that technology can do to enhance our lives.

I do believe that we are over-reliant and turn into phone-addicted zombies a lot of the time, and I am going to make conscious efforts to change that in our house. I love the amount of tv channels that we have and the fact that we actually have a record and watch later function is amazing, it means that I can at some stage watch the things that I would like to watch… I tend to get very little time to watch things on tv so it could take months before I catch up, but it is all sitting there waiting for me, its brilliant!

I know that a lot of households have more technology than us, but we have a heating system that we can text and it will turn on the gas heating regardless of where we are, so we can always come home to a warm house. There is so much technology in the world that is amazing and helpful and adds to our lives in so many ways, and it is great to have it available and I’m grateful to live in a world that it made so much easier in so many ways due to technology.
