Last time that I posted here was in March 2020… and wow so much has happened in the mean time.
It has been a crazy 18 months, and so much has happened, and so much has changed – both in the world, and in my mind and mindset.
I have spent a lot of time over on Instagram for the past year or more now, it is definitely my favourite form of social media. And that is because, like I actually wrote about here years ago when I first joined Instagram, that I keep it very much a positive, encouraging and motivating place…. I work out how the pages I follow and the content I see makes me feel.
And I curate based on that.
I decided last year to get rid of all our debt and have found the #irishdebtfreecommunity on Instagram amazing and have made some lovely friends there, such a wonderful, kind community. I did really well with our debt and finances… and then not so great with our finances! But look its all good.
I’ve been learning about growing your money, investing and having different streams and types of income. It is all still very new to me, but it has opened up my mind as to how much there is still for me to learn. I’m following different financial pages, and reading different books I never would have thought to read.
Over the years I have always used survey sites and shop and scan – but through the debt free community, I found more surveys and I am loving some of the new ones! There are also so many different side hustle ideas, I’m learning so much still.
I have learnt about Intuitive Eating, and I have done really well in rejecting diet culture and I am learning more about this too. I had got to the stage where yes I was fed up of being fat, but even more fed up of going on another diet, just to lose weight and yo-yo back up to heavier. At the start of the pandemic, I actually was at my lowest weight since last baby, and during the start of the pandemic I exercised daily, and ate a lot of baking, and my weight sky rocketed and I felt crap about myself.
I realised that I couldn’t keep going at this cycle, and I was working towards adding gut healthy foods to my diet and to focus on what I could add to my life for my health – instead of restricting anything – so strength, fitness, gut healthy food, sleep routine, outdoor time, screen free time, love and laughter – all these things that make such a difference – these are what I plan to add in. I have good months and bad months at managing this, but its a work in progress!
I am also working on being kind and compassionate towards myself too!
That is the tip of the iceberg of the last year or two, but enough of a post to start back off and have me feel that I have at least made a start again over here…. that is a good start to an October goal!!
